Trish Miller is the CEO of Swemkids, a nonprofit organization that provides underprivileged children with access to swimming lessons and water safety education. Trish's personal experience of nearly drowning while in college shaped her career and passion for teaching children to swim and stay safe in and around the water.
Trish's passion for swimming and water safety education extends beyond her work at Swemkids. She is a frequent speaker and advocate for drowning prevention, and has been recognized for her contributions to the field with several awards and honors. In her free time, Trish enjoys swimming, hiking, and spending time with her family.
Tyanna Jackson born and raised in Chicago, currently resides in Atlanta Georgia with my Spouse and 2 young boys. I currently hold the position as the Talent Acquisition & Development Specialist with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. I’ve been with the Boys & Girls Clubs movement for 7 ½ years, and here is where I found my passion for the development of young people and the importance of community involvement.
Within my tenure I’ve held multiple positions, Youth Development Professional, Healthy Lifestyles Director and an Executive Director. I am a firm believer that it takes a village, therefore I am invested in being a part of that village. Not only are my hands full with the involvement of young people, I am a Proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. I currently hold the position as the Vice President for my graduate chapter. I enjoy dancing, singing, traveling and spending time with my family. I am extremely excited for what SwemKids has to offer the community which solely impacts the world.
Adam Mania is a Former NCAA All-American and Polish Olympic Swimmer currently based in Atlanta. 10 years of experience in swim coaching and non-profit fundraising for the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center in Milwaukee, WI. Currently works as a Creative Director for Powerade.
Shenna M. Jones, native of Bartow, Georgia is a 2008 graduate of Savannah State University where she received her Bachelors of Business Administration with a concentration in Management. In 2009, Shenna joined the Jefferson County School System until a better opportunity was presented at her Alma Mater, Savannah State University. As Executive Assistant to the Comptroller in the office of Business and Finance at Savannah State University, Shenna assisted with the fiscal affairs of the University’s faculty and administrative staff. In 2012, Shenna was offered a position with Amerigroup Community Care, where she served as the Southeast Marketing Account Manager for 5 years. Every year, Shenna had the pleasure of hosting events such as, Amerigroup Safety Palooza, Ultimate Baby Shower, Amerigroup Farmers Market, Tour de Kids Bike Rodeo and Repack the Backpack giving her the opportunity to educate over 33,000 Amerigroup members and Medicaid eligible enrollees within the Southeast region. Now as the Marketing Coordinator to the Atlanta Amerigroup Marketing team; Shenna still enjoys every bit of the job and is fully committed to supporting her community. Shenna is married to her loving husband Gil Jones of 9 years both reside in Union City, Georgia with their 8 year old Shih-Tzu Kobee.
Shannon Clark is the secretary of the Board for SwemKids International. Beyond the board, I am a Scientist for the Naval Information Warfare Center. I support the Command in Business Analyst and Scrum Master roles. I am a graduate of Old Dominion University and Southern Wesleyan University, with a degree in International Studies and an MBA.
I get to be a mom to two really great boys, and currently live in Summerville, SC. SwemKids is introducing the nation and the world to something folks didn't know they needed - the life skill of swimming, the ability for anyone to be comfortable in the water, to enjoy the benefits of swimming, and shaping new cultural norms related to being in the water, for brown and peach folks/everyone.
Christina was born on February 1st and is from Lithonia, Ga. In Christina’s free time, she enjoys reading comic books, eating pasta, and watching her favorite movie, The Five Heartbeats. Christina, who has been swimming since the age of 3, learned to swim by taking lessons at Agnes Scott College, so teaching lessons at that location really brings things full circle for her. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing people conquer their fear and master new skills.
Shawn was born on September 13th in New York City. However, Shawn has been in the Atlanta area for most of his life and attended high school in Lithonia, Georgia. In Shawn’s free time, he enjoys dancing, photography, eating pizza and gourmet popcorn, and watching his favorite movie, Jawbreaker. Shawn, who is new to the aquatics world, will be conquering his own fears in the water. We are excited to provide members of our team with the opportunity to experience the freedom of swimming. His favorite part about working at the SwemSchool is getting to know the families and hearing their stories regarding their progress.
Hayley was born on January 16th and is from Atlanta, Georgia. In Hayley’s free time, she enjoys running, eating pasta and watching their favorite movie, The Greatest Showman. Hayley, who has been swimming since she was a child, learned to swim by playing in the pool with her sister.
Dontavious was born on February 18th and is from Atlanta, Georgia. In Dontavious' free time, he enjoys tutoring, eating nuggets and watching his favorite movie, Jeepers Creepers 2. Dontavious, who has been swimming since he was 14, learned to swim from an instructor a few years ago at the Swim Kids. His favorite part about working at the SwemSchool is interacting with so many great people every day.
Taj was born on September 28th and is from Atlanta, Georgia. In Taj’s free time, she enjoys painting, eating crab legs and watching their favorite movie, Kill Bill. Taj, who has been swimming since the age of 5, learned to swim when her big brother threw her in the deep end and her instincts kicked in. Although this technique does not work for all swimmers, it worked for Taj. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is the moment when her students realize they have the power and potential to be excellent swimmers.
Instructor Brandon was born on September 13th and is from Atlanta, Ga. In Brandon’s free time, he enjoys playing instruments, spoken word, eating sushi and watching his favorite movie, Save the Last Dance. Brandon, who has been swimming since the age of 9, learned to swim by taking lessons at a city pool. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing his students progress.
Micah was born on April 6th and is from Atlanta, Georgia. In Micah’s free time, she enjoys skating, eating fruit and watching their favorite movie, Twilight. Micah, who has been swimming since she was a little kid, learned to swim by taking swim lessons. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is being able to give the freedom to swim safely.
Amanda was born on November 7th and is from New Jersey. In Amanda’s free time, she enjoys watching t.v., eating buffalo wings and watching their favorite movie, Spice World. Amanda, who has been swimming since she was young, learned to swim with her father. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is helping swimmers reach their goals.
Evan was born on April 23rd and is from South Boston, Virginia. In Evan’s free time, he enjoys hanging with friends, eating pizza and watching his favorite movie, Escape room. Evan, who has been swimming since he was little, learned to swim by taking group lessons. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is when the kids get comfortable enough to jump into the pool.
London was born on October 21, and is from Atlanta, Georgia. In London’s free time, she enjoys swimming, eating popcorn, and watching her favorite movie, Black Panther. London, who has been swimming since the age of 5, learned to swim by taking swim lessons. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is celebrating their progress.
Nick was born on April 20th and is from Wilmington, Delaware. In Nick’s free time, he enjoys scuba diving, skating, eating Korean BBQ, and watching his favorite movie, The Count of Monte Cristo. Nick, who has been swimming since the age of 5, learned to swim by being thrown in the deep end. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is the sense of accomplishment that comes with having people get comfortable in the deep end.
Chris was born on October 10th and is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In Chris’s free time, he enjoys collecting records, listening to music, eating cereal, and watching sci-fi movies. Chris, who has been swimming for 20 years, learned to swim in summer camp. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing the kids overcome challenges.
Cortney was born on April 20th and is from Lansing, Michigan. In Cortney’s free time, she enjoys drawing, eating crab legs, and watching her favorite movie, Coming to America. Cortney, who has been swimming since 6 months old, learned to swim when her mom enrolled her in swim lessons. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing the joy on kids' faces when they accomplish something they were scared to do.
Mariah was born on January 25th and is from Richmond, Virginia. In Mariah’s free time, she enjoys swimming, hanging with friends, eating cheese, and watching her favorite movie, Coco. Mariah, who has been swimming since the age of 5, learned to swim when she joined swim team. Her favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing kids have fun and get more comfortable in the water.
Rashad was born on October 15th and is from Atlanta, Ga. In Rashad’s free time, he enjoys singing, eating seafood and watching their favorite movie, Matrix. Rashad, who has been swimming since the age of 5, learned to swim by taking lessons. His favorite part about teaching swim lessons is seeing the kids have a breakthrough on a skill.
